Vent Fest Friday!

I know it's VFF, but I am still in a more positive mood. But, I do have a vent today (along with what I'm grateful for).

We have had a bloody diaper 3 days in a row now. I'm not sure if it was from the Bailey's I had on Sunday or the vitamin (Poly-Vi-Sol w/Iron) that I started him on on Monday night. We saw a bloody diaper 24 hours after giving the vitamin. I didn't give him his vitamins last night...so we'll see if we have another bloody diaper tonight, as that seems to be when it happens. I highly doubt it's the almonds I'm eating since I wasn't eating tree nuts when this whole ordeal started.

For my grateful part - I am so grateful that I am even able to BF my son. Even with all of the headaches this MSPI causes...I have to remember that there are some mothers out there that would give anything to be in my position so they could even have the opportunity to BF their LO's. I am also grateful that my supply has not seem to be affected at all by the diet. This was something I worried about...but it seems to be fine still.

Hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!

  1. I just gave her the vitamin today, so I'll let you know if we get bloody diapers tomorrow! I hope not. I really don't want to go through that process again. I feel for you!
My vent: I hate that I can't grab something while I'm out and about. It would make going out on errands etc easier if I didn't have to plan around lunch or if I had a quicker fix for lunch.

  2. I agree SP! I don't know how I'm going to get through summer with no Turtle Sundae from Culver's either :(

Yes, please let me know about the vitamin. It just seems odd that we went 5 days without blood and then I give the vitamin and we have blood again. It's nothing huge...just a spot - but it's still blood. I hope for your sake it's not the vitamin! Good luck!

  3. I'm stopping the Tri-Vi-Sol vitamin. DS was having great, normal diapers. One dose of the vitamin, no other changes, and he has had teenie, tiny streaks of blood in his diapers for the past 2 days. They are also more mucousy. I'm annoyed b/c I felt like we were making such progress. This vitamin is a newer recommendation and a lot of my friends who BF haven't ever heard of it. My LC told me that a pedi suggested Just D liquid vitamin. I googled and found it but am hesitant to order it. I'm trying to decide if we should try that or no vitamin at all.

Cassandra, I feel the same way. I'm incredibly grateful to be able to BF and that my supply has not been affected by the diet. I worried about both and so far so good.

    Happy Weekend!

  4. Addy had a green diaper this morning. We are watching for it to get worse. I found this troublesome:

"E succinate is prepared from a soy-source vitamin E. However, the amounts of residual soy antigens in this product are very small. For those who don't have a soy sensitivity, Vitamin E succinate offers an exciting new dimension of the Vitamin E effect."

    Ingredients of the vitamin:
    Glycerin , Water , Ascorbic Acid , Polysorbate 80 , Vitamin E Succinate , Niacinamide , Ferrous Sulfate - as a Stabilizer for Vitamin B12 , Natural and Artificial Flavor , Caramel Color , Vitamin A Palmitate , Thiamin Hydrochloride , Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium , Vitamin B6 Hydrochloride , Vitamin D3 , Vitamin B12

  5. Thanks for posting SP! So sorry about the green diaper. I researched the vitamin e thing last night and found the same type of info. I emailed Enfamil asking them if their vitamin contained soy. We'll see what they say! I didn't give A any vitamin on Thursday night and we didn't have any blood last night (or all day). I'm thinking it's the vitamin. WTF would the GI Specialist prescribe something that DS would not be able to handle very well? Goes to show you how frickin smart these people are. I think we know more about MSPI than them sometimes!
